Youth Advisory Council

A core component of the critical developmental transition from youth to adulthood is practicing agency - the powerful ability to influence and affect one’s world.

Youth themselves are best equipped to articulate the needs of modern teens and design a relevant space. The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of dedicated teens who, together with adult allies, built and operate the Teen Center. The YAC has hosted fundraisers and work parties, applied for grants, written policy, engaged in Strategic Planning and robust conversations around Teen Center culture and values.

Using their fresh vision and heart, the Youth Advisory Council is building a world together for the greater good - a skillset they’ll carry forward!

Teens on the YAC gain valuable leadership experience, make important decisions on behalf of their peers, approve programming, and shape and care for the Teen Center. They build a robust resume during their term on the council.

There are 11 seats on the Youth Advisory Council. No experience necessary - when seats are open, we take teens ages 13-19. If seats are full, we'll add you to the wait list!
